Send some love to Legacy, leaving SYTYCD

Legacy was eliminated from So You Think You Can Dance last night. He made it into the top 8, further than any other bboy except Dominic (Quest). Along the way, he surprised the judges and the audience with his skills in contemporary, paso doble, and even Viennese waltz. His sincerity and enthusiasm will be missed, and I hope we see him again soon on TV and the dance stage.

Congratulations Russell Ferguson - SYTYCD Top 20

It's going to be an interesting season on So You Think You Can Dance. There are 3 hip hop dancers in the top 20. Russell Ferguson stands out as the first krumper to ever get this far on the show. I don't like using bootleg videos (search for them yourself!), so here's something different: a rotoscope animation of him dancing from JoePollack88's Youtube Channel.

Congratulations Kevin K-Bez Hunte -- SYTYCD top 20!

So You Think You Can Dance Season 6 has 3 hip hop dancers in the top 20-- Legacy Perez and Kevin "K-Bez" Hunte, and Russell Ferguson. KBez has performed with Beyonce and with America's Best Dance Crew judge Lil Mama. Here's a candid video from the PrinceKbez Youtube Channel:

Congratulations Jonathan Legacy Perez - Top 20 in SYTYCD Season 6!

Three hip hop dancers made it to the top 20 for So You Think You Can Dance Season 6. Jonathan Legacy Perez appeared in "Stomp the Yard" and performed on tour with Gwen Stefani. Soon, he will also be seen in "B-girl the Movie", along with Beat Freaks' Lady Jules. Here's his audition for "B-Girl", from the BGirl Youtube Channel:

Give some love to Karla Garcia, leaving SYTYCD!

Karla Garcia of the Boogie Bots has been sent home from So You Think You Can Dance, after 4 weeks of tremendous dancing. Personally, we think that she would have lasted longer had she had the benefit of an earlier changes in partners, more attention during the auditions, more comments about her from the judges , and a better slot on the this week's competition (why DID the producers isolate her dance until after all the other pairs finished and after a long, dull promotion for their new charity -- viewers probably left the show early and didn't get to watch her wonderful quickstep!) But, in any case, we loved watching you dance each week and hope to see much more of you. For those of you who do not follow SYTYCD, here's a video from BoogieBotsTV.

ABDC, So You Think You Can Dance - audition intersections (and math problem!)

This week, Marvelous Motion is planning to audition for America's Best Dance Crew Season 4. Their audition crew includes Arielle Coker, who also reportedly auditioned this week for So You Think You Can Dance Season 6. Her audition partner (for SYTYCD Season 5) and boyfriend Phillip Chbeeb cannot audition with Marvelous Motion for ABDC, since he made it to the top 20 on SYTYCD Season 5. (Are you still following me?) So, my question is: if Marvelous Motion is picked for ABDC Season 4 and Arielle is picked to go to the Las Vegas auditions for SYTYCD Season 6 (as she was for Season 5), what happens? Please show your work; partial credit will be given.

Here's a recent Marvelous Motion performance, at The Streetz Dance Convention in Beaumont, TX, from TyRiley44's Youtube channel.

Congratulations Karla Garcia (Boogie Bots) and Phillip Chbeeb (Marvelous Motion) -- So You Think You can Dance Top 20!

We're thrilled that Karla Garcia (part of the larger Boogie Bots group that did not appear on America's Best Dance Crew) and Phillip Chbeeb (Marvelous Motion Crew) have made it to the Top 20 on this season of So You Think You Can Dance. We can't wait to watch you over the next few months! Here's a section of Karla's audition.
