MercerMZ review (with lots of videos) - Top 20 Showcase Episode

So You Think You Can Dance has now officially moved into its ninth set of Live shows, where you, the viewers at home and the one reading this recap/review, are now able to vote for you want to win! After surviving a long, physically & mentally draining Vegas week, 35 dancers of all shapes, sizes, & stories flew back into Las Vegas last week to hear from the judges who would make it onto the show. Then, tonight, they took to the stage to perform for the first time and show us exactly what we can expect to see this season. Which dancers made the final cut, and will be performing on the Live shows for your votes? How did the Showcase performances go and which dancers were grouped together? I'll give you the rundown and a few of my thoughts for each performance. Before we go any further, I think it's only appropriate to let everyone know which dancers made the cut. Video: Mighty Mouse - "The Wind Walker"

It's too bad that Shafeek "Mighty Mouse" Westbrook didn't go further on this season's So You Think You Can Dance. It's clear from this video that he could have brought something fresh to the show. From YAKFilms. Thanks for the tip, Ian!

MercerMZ reviews So You Think You Can Dance - Las Vegas Week, with solo highlights

This is MercerMZ here with a full recap of the events in Vegas week for So You Think You Can Dance Season 9. In my last write-up, I said that the week in Vegas is typically a bloodbath for the dancers, and this season was no exception. A total of 181 dancers came into Vegas week with the dream of making that Top 20, and by the end of the week, only 35 dancers still had a shot. So what happened? Who was cut and when? Which choreographers showed to make the dancers work? You're gonna find out right now. Click here for the full write-up with solo highlights and lots of videos and video links.

MercerMZ's predictions with videos) for So You Think You Can Dance Top 20

According to Cat Dealey, the judges on this season's So You Think You Can Dance sent a total of 181 dancers into Vegas week this season. And just like the last 8 seasons, we can expect it to be a bloodbath with plenty of hard cuts to come. As usual, there's lots of competition heading in and of course, it's not very clear if there are any front-runners. That's not gonna stop me from picking some though. For this segment, I'm gonna make a few predictions for the dancers who I think may fair well through Vegas and make Top 20, based mostly on the auditions.   I'll be splitting my picks between both genders into 2 different groups: those who are first time auditioners and those who are returning auditioners. Click here to see my predictions, with videos of their auditions.

MercerMZ review (with videos): So You Think You Can Dance, Salt Lake City auditions

Hello everybody! This is MercerMZ here, bringing you my very first write-up for the blog! Before I continue, I must congratulate 8 Flavahz for making the Final 2 and Elektrolytes for becoming America's Best Dance Crew. I figured since NinjaBoi has been very busy lately, he wouldn't mind if someone else would like to cover the 9th season of So You Think You Can Dance. So without further ado, I turn your attention to the final set of auditions, coming from Salt Lake City, Utah. Just like last week, since this show only focused on one particular city, there were lots of standouts here.
My top pick for the night: Leroy Martinez - (29 yrs. old, from Sacramento, CA) Dancing to Chris Brown's "Yeah x3". Hands down, this was not only my favorite Salt Lake City audition, but also my favorite audition this season! I won't spoil it for you, but let me just say, being a slightly big guy myself, I love watching big guys bust a move. And not just bust a move, but also completely murder their set. Plus, he has such a fantastic personality; By the time it was over, I was standing up and applauding him, along with the audience.
Click here to read and see more of my favorites. And return tomorrow for my predictions of who will do well in the SYTYCD Las Vegas round and make it to the Top 20.

SYTYCD | Atlanta Auditions - Dragon House

Once again, So You Think You Can Dance hits up Atlanta and finds that southern swag to bring to their show. While we'll share the rest of the Atlanta auditions in a later post, we really wanted to highlight this trio of dancers. By their own word, Dragon House Crew is a group of dancers/roommates who love to dance. This isn't the first time we've seen them. Remote Kontrol Crew, featuring iGlide, Chibi (with his unforgettable Fireflies routine), and Nonstop (with his recordbreaking Pumped up Kicks video) are also members of this collective. The three dancers that showed up this time are Boris Penton, Andre Rucker, and Cyrus "Glitch" Spencer (seen below). They all got a well-deserved ticket to Vegas. Check it out! Make sure you check out the rest of Dragon House Crew on their Youtube channel here!

SYTYCD9 | LA Auditions

So You Think You Can Dance has rolled into LA, and there are a number of auditions I want to highlight for one reason or another. Also, check out Jesse Tyler Ferguson from Modern Family as a guest judge! I'm sure he got on for his mad dance skills right? Right? -Cole Horibe (brother of Fanny Pak's Cara Horibe) has a pretty unique style, martial arts based, but with a contemporary twist. Apparently he can bring a lot more to the table, that overachiever, so check him out. -Jontel "Johnny Waacks" Gibson werkz it with a funky take on waacking. Definitely a feel good performance. -Jonathan Anzalone comes back from Season 4 and Italy with a better attitude than before, and has some power heavy/cortortionist bboying for us, as well as with some audience participation -NIck N JAmes Aragon, aka the Ninja Twins, are dancers after my own heart, for obvious reasons. They do talk quite a bit near the beginning, but they do a nice contemporary type routine to MJ's Man in the Mirror, with just enough fierce in there. Unfortunately they can't go on, but hopefully they keep going. -Caley Carr is a tapper. To be honest, I didn't really see much of his routine the first go round, if only because I was entranced by his Step Boys style moustache.
